rerdphotography.com: What To Expect

Here is an outline of what to expect if you decide to arrange a photo session with me. The Location and Appointment, First, we will plan a mutually convenient location for the shoot. Next, we will decide on a mutually convenient date, time and duration for the shoot. I normally like to shoot for around 3-4 hours. If I (or the model) am traveling a long distance for the photo session, I sometimes like to arrange an all-day shoot; this is 2-3 hours in the morning, followed by a break, then 2-3 hours in the afternoon. We will also decide the type of photos to be taken, and the kind of outfits needed. Who Pays for What. The model is responsible for her own transportation and traveling expenses, and for her clothes, hair and make-up. The Results, After the photo session, this normally takes from one to two weeks. Follow-up Sessions, If the first session is satisfactory to both parties, I like to arrange one or more follow-up sessions. I usually learn things from the results that I can improve upon, and the more relaxed atmosphere leads to better photographs. Models Wanted, I am seeking female models from age 18 upwards. You do not need to be a professional model or have any experience. Enthusiasm is more important to me. I do, however, expect you to be serious and to follow through with any arrangements we may make. I prefer models that are as interested in the quality of the photos as they are in any financial reward. I encourage my models to contribute their creative input into all of my work. I regard the making of good photographs as a joint effort between the model and photographer. Trading Modeling Time for Pictures, Trading modeling time for pictures is an excellent deal for the model because I invest a lot of time, effort and expense in taking the pictures and processing, retouching, and printing them to get the most flattering results. If we are trading modeling time, I am also more amenable to working with the model to get the shots she needs for her portfolio, rather than just the shots I need. This type of arrangement is suitable for models that are just starting out and want to get experience and build a portfolio, or for models whose portfolios need updating with new or different photos. I provide CD's. If you need black and white. The pictures I take are used by me for self-promotion only (including posting on an web site), unless we come to some other arrangement. What Does the Photographer Get Out Of This? I enjoy taking pictures. In order to find models. I hope that when potential models see the quality and variety of my work they will want to work with me. I am always looking to improve my portfolio by adding new pictures of new models. Your Privacy and Security, I fully understand that each model has restrictions on the type of photos they will pose for. That is no problem because I need a variety of shots for my portfolio. If you think you may be interested in modeling for me, but need more information, please contact me with your questions. This saves time because it includes all the questions I may need to ask you. Also, if possible, send me a recent photo of yourself. Privacy and Security Guidelines Worried about your privacy and security? I am as concerned about privacy and security as anyone. I have the same concerns for the models that I work with. The following sections describe the ways that I help protect the privacy and security of the models that I encounter. Your Personal Information, Any personal information that models give to me, such as that on the 'model application form', is treated as confidential. This information is never disclosed to anyone else. The only personal information that is made public is the brief biographical description, which accompanies the model's photos. This information may be pre-approved by the model and the model may change it at any time. Using an Alias, Some models prefer to be known by an alias or assumed name. I will list you under any name you choose., Chaperones, I understand the fears of a model meeting an unknown photographer for the first time. Because of this, I have no objection to a model bringing a companion to the first photo session with me. The model may bring a chaperone or companion to the first shoot. If it is another potential model even better! A warning though, I may enlist the aid of any chaperone in photographic duties such as holding reflectors. Personal Safety, I advise models to always be aware of personal safety. Tell someone where you are going and when you are expected back. If possible, carry a cell phone.
